At Galvin's Geckos, we are dedicated to providing a safe and loving environment for all types of geckos. Our passion for these incredible reptiles drives us to educate others about their care and unique behaviors.
Gargoyle geckos are omnivores, meaning they eat both fruit and insects.
Staple Diet: Commercial crested gecko diet like Pangea or Repashy. Easy, complete, and tasty (for them… not you).
Insects (2–3x/week): Gut-loaded crickets, dubia roaches, and occasional waxworms or mealworms (as treats).
Tip: Dust feeder insects with calcium + D3 powder 1–2x per week.
Misting is key. Lightly mist 1–2x daily to keep humidity up and help them drink droplets from leaves and tank walls. Keep an eye out—they might not drink from the bowl but love licking water off stuff.
Ideal Temp: Day: 72–78°F. Night: Can drop to 65°F (they're cool with cooler nights). No heat lamp necessary unless your home is below these tempertures.
Humidity: Aim for 50–70%. Use a hygrometer to monitor.
Minimum Tank Size: 10–20 gallons for a juvenile. 20+ gallons or a 12"x12"x18" vertical tank for adults. These geckos love to climb so make sure your tank is vertical!
Substrate: Paper towel is easy for cleaning and best for baby gargoyles. Eco Earth, sphagnum moss, or reptile bark works well for adults and juveniles.
Decor: Branches, cork bark, fake or real plants Hides near the bottom AND climbing options
Lighting: A low-level UVB light (5.0) is required for long-term health.
Generally docile but can be shy at first. They may jump, especially juveniles—handle close to a soft surface until they trust you. Best to start with short sessions and let them come to you.
